Joyce Ai: Turning her love for raving into care for her community

Hours on your feet, nonstop movement, and nights that stretch until sunrise: for ravers, shufflers, performers, and DJs, the dance floor asks a lot of the body. Joyce makes sure their bodies can keep up. As a physical therapist and the owner of The Physio Raver, Joyce provides rehab and wellness coaching services built specifically for the raving community, helping them build the resilience to keep doing what they love for years to come.

Since moving her business from Trainerize to Everfit, Joyce is looking ahead with confidence to what she can build next for her community.

Built for the community

Before The Physio Raver, Joyce spent a long time working within an insurance-based model of physical therapy. The longer she stayed, the clearer it became that the model wasn’t built around the people she was treating. “It’s not really designed for the client’s best interest in mind,” she says. “It’s really designed to maximize their own profits.“

That gap between what patients needed and what the system rewarded took its toll. Somewhere along the way, Joyce found herself completely burned out. But she also knew she wasn’t done with the work itself, only with the way she’d been forced to do it.

Instead of fitting her care into an insurance model, Joyce built a service around a community that rarely gets rehab designed with them in mind.

The Physio Raver works with ravers, shufflers, performers, and DJs, combining physical therapy expertise with wellness coaching so they can recover from injuries, build resilience, and keep dancing, performing, and enjoying the scene they love for as long as they want to, without their bodies holding them back.

Migrate to Everfit

Like any new business, The Physio Raver has had its ups and downs. For Joyce, the hardest moments have come from complex cases, when a patient or client doesn’t fit a simple pattern and she has to work through her thinking carefully to tailor their programming.

Getting her systems right was part of solving that, which is why Joyce moved her business from Trainerize to Everfit. For a coach still building her practice, switching platforms could have meant weeks of rebuilding client records by hand.

But with Everfit’s support, the migration carried everything over for her. “Everything transferred over, even workout history from two years back. Doing it by hand would’ve taken forever. This saves you so much time.” With her clients’ full training history in one place, she could keep tailoring their programs without losing track of where each of them started.

Since the move, Everfit has streamlined how she builds and manages programs and made the back end far easier to handle. When she ran into questions or issues, Everfit’s support team was there to help.

They’ve been able to answer a lot of my questions and help resolve a lot of the issues I was having, in a very timely manner. That has really helped me streamline my programming and make things a lot easier on the back end, so that I’m able to help as many clients as I can to the best of my abilities.

With the operational side under control, Joyce can focus her energy on the clinical side, which is where it matters most.

Keeping the music going

Joyce’s goal for the future is simple: to help as many people as she can. Having left a system that put profits ahead of patients, she is building something that puts her clients first, with care designed around their bodies, their passions, and the way they actually live.

For the ravers, shufflers, performers, and DJs she works with, that means more nights on the dance floor and fewer spent sidelined by pain or injury. For Joyce, it means doing the work she was meant to do, on her own terms.

Joyce’s story is part of our 6th Anniversary: All On Coach Spotlight Series.

In it, we sit down with coaches in the Everfit Community to talk about the moment they went all in: the decision, the risk, and what it took to follow through. Each story comes back to the same belief. Real progress isn’t powered by willpower alone.
