Gabriel Marcogliese: Turning his own recovery into a mission for other lifters

For more than five years, Gabriel Marcogliese lived with back pain. As a lifter with a passion for training, he knew exactly what it felt like to want to train hard and not be able to. Today, Gabe is a kinesiologist who runs an online coaching business built for lifters in the same position: people dealing with pain who want to get back to heavy training, pain-free.

His story is a reminder that the right support can turn the hardest chapter of your training into the reason you help others through theirs.

Five years of pain

Gabe’s back pain didn’t come and go. It stayed with him for more than five years, and for three of them it came with nerve pain radiating down his left leg. The worst moment came when he developed a bit of a drop foot, a sign of how serious the nerve involvement had become.

For someone who loved to train, the pain was about more than physical discomfort. It meant not being able to train the way he wanted to, and that experience became the foundation of his business.

The last thing I want is for other lifters who are dealing with pain, who have a passion for training and can’t train how they want, to experience that too.

Rehab that gets lifters back under the bar

Having lived through it himself, Gabe saw a clear gap in how lifters are treated when they’re in pain. In his view, much of the traditional rehab out there isn’t designed for people whose goal is to train heavy again. “A lot of the traditional rehab out there doesn’t really support the type of rehab that they need to get back to training hard, pain-free,” he says.

That’s the space his business fills. Gabe has been coaching for more than 10 years, and two years ago he launched his online business using Everfit to help lifters bridge the gap between being in pain and getting back to the kind of training they love. The goal isn’t only to feel better. It’s to return to lifting hard with confidence.

Where Everfit comes in

Gabe has been using Everfit for about a year and a half, after trying other coaching platforms. “Everfit is hands down the best coaching platform that I have ever used,” he says.

For a coach working with clients in pain, knowing who needs attention matters. When Gabe logs in, his dashboard shows him everything he needs right away. “Who needs help? Who’s winning right now?” he says. That visibility lets him step in quickly for clients who are struggling and celebrate the ones who are making progress.

Programming has become faster, too. Gabe uses Everfit’s AI Workout Builder to create programs quickly, and he describes the overall programming experience as “absolutely seamless.” The app works just as well for his clients as it does for him. “They say it’s very, very easy to use. Everfit has really helped me scale my business.”

Reaching more lifters

Over the next few years, Gabe plans to scale his business further, and his reason is personal. He knows how many lifters are out there dealing with the same kind of pain he once had, stuck between wanting to train and being unable to.

“I want to reach more lifters who are dealing with this pain and help them get back to heavy training, absolutely pain-free.” After five years of living with it himself, it’s a goal he understands better than anyone.

Gabriel’s story is part of our 6th Anniversary: All On Coach Spotlight Series.

In it, we sit down with coaches in the Everfit Community to talk about the moment they went all in: the decision, the risk, and what it took to follow through. Each story comes back to the same belief. Real progress isn’t powered by willpower alone.
